BusinessWeek ranked ID Program among the top 40 international programs.

For two consecutive years, the BusinessWeek has ranked the Industrial Design Program among the top 40 international programs. The October 2007 issue compared the Industrial Design Program with well-known programs like the Harvard Business School, MIT’s Media Lab, Stanford’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design and Product Design Engineering, Royal College of Art in London, Art Center College of Design in California, Carnegie Mellon University, Illinois Institute of Technology and Rhode Island School of Design.

 

Design Intelligence rates ID Program very highly

Design Intelligence in 2008 rated the Program very highly – both undergraduate and graduate programs are within the top 15, nationally.

  • The grad program stands 3rd  in the country.
  • The undergrad program is 11th in the country.
  • Nationally, the Industrial Design Program is viewed technological, and it ranks top in Materials, Processes and the Engineering category.

The graduate program which was in the 10th place in 2006, and 9th place in 2007, has moved up to 3rd place nationally. Among the Southern schools, the undergraduate program ranks 3rd and the graduate program stands 2nd.

 

IDSA Merit Award

Each year Industrial Designers Society of America, professional body for industrial design education and practice, selects one best student from its five regions and these students are showcased at the Industrial Designers Society of America’s national conference as top design students in the country. For four consecutive years a Georgia Tech a student was a Merit Award winner, implying that one of our students was within five best students in the country for four years. Georgia Tech’s Industrial design Program is the only program in the nation to have four consecutive Merit Award winners.

 

Five ID grads featured in Georgia Tech’s Alumni Magazine

The Summer 2008 Georgia Tech’s Alumni Magazine featured four industrial design alums and it has offered extensive coverage about their accomplishments. The industrial design alums include Alfredo Aponte 2007, Brandon Swafford 2007 Clint Zeagler 2004, Mike Fischetti 2003, Daniel Barbalho 2003.
