flickering flame The City  Atlanta: A city living in the future, a city that transformed itself into its slogans and transcended its past. A new style of "city," Atlanta reinvented the atrium, and made its downtown into a suburban mall. Now, Atlanta is using the Olympics to remake itself...again. The City of Trees ... and Billboards. The City Too Busy to Hate. Home of the Dr.Martin Luther King Memorial and the Stone Mountain Memorial to the Confederacy. And Home of the Olympics, too.

flickering flame Getting the Games    With the aid of modern technology, an ambasador turned super salesman, three party planners, and a ex UGA football player/lawyer with a dream, Atlanta came from way behind, to beat the favorite, Athens.

flickering flame Structures A sampling of works constructed in and around Atlanta just for the Games. Come visit the Centennial Olympic Park, see some of our temporary structures or some specially commissioned sculptures.

flickering flame Symbols   Symbols Olympic and otherwise. Mascots -- Izzy, Pizzy, and Br'er Rabbit. The Torches, the Bridge, the Caldrons. The visual identity of the Olympic Games is always important and the Centenial Games is no exception.

flickering flame Venue Tours  Want to fly to the venues? Want to see a Quicktime VR movie of the Aquatic Center? Well, come on in to the virtual pool...

flickering flame The Legacy   So what will Atlanta be left with after the Games pack up and leave? Should ACOG have used the Olympics to remake downtown? Or should it have just worked on producing the best Games possible? Atlanta unveils its vision of "the 24 Hour City."
