Universal Dining Hall

Universal Dining Hall Construction Universal Fabric Structures erected Atlanta's largest tent, covering an area of 80,000 sq.ft., on the Georgia Tech campus. The tent is drum tight and the tension fabric that covers the structure, a type of PVC plastic, is shaped in a sophisticated arch-form. It is held together by aluminum framework and can withstand winds as strong as 80 mph.

The speed with which this structure came into existence, roughly six days, is truly fascinating, but the amazing statistics do not end there. According to Charles Ballantyne, owner of Universal Fabric, this structure will feed 10,000 meals in a day to the Olympic athletes and coaches. It is large enough to accomodate 3000 people at a time.

In this dining facility, the Olympiad guests will have a variety of ethnic cuisine to suit their palate and 17 different kinds of bread to choose from during each meal.
