![]() | The Olympic Torch The design of the 1996 Olympic Torch features a shaft resembling bundled reeds atop a Classical Greek
column with the Atlanta Olympic logo and "quilt of leaves" inscribed on a gold ring. The
torch weighs under 3 1/2 pounds and can burn with a visible flame for approximately 45 minutes.

Ceremonial Cauldron The Ceremonial Cauldron, which is traveling with the Torch Relay, is approximately five feet high and two and a half feet in diameter. A gold ring, with etched quilt of leaves, rests on a column made of brushed aluminum tubes and trimmed with gold rings featuring the names of the twenty cities who have hosted the modern Olympic Games. | |

variety of sub-characters. Despite much criticism about the choice of this character
representing the 1996 Olympiad, the enthusiasm towards purchasing Izzy paraphernalia

![]() | Centennial Olympic Cauldron The Centennial Olympic Cauldron is essentially a piece of sheet steel rolled into a cone. Conceived by Minnesota-based artist Siah Armajani, the caldron uses tiles of Georgia red clay to trace the top edge of the spiral formed by the twisting of the cone. | |

![]() | Olympic Identity Program The look of the games was a combined effort from five national design firms and an architectural firm and it emerged from a graphic concept which supported the theme "Harmony, Radiance and Grace". The symbol reflects a patchwork of neighborhoods that forms the quilt of Atlanta. It is a unifying element which ties together banners, the Olympic Torch and Ceremonial Caldron, uniforms of Olympic staff and volunteers as well as buses transporting Olympic visitors. |
