The Olympic Torchflickering flame The Olympic Torch  The design of the 1996 Olympic Torch features a shaft resembling bundled reeds atop a Classical Greek column with the Atlanta Olympic logo and "quilt of leaves" inscribed on a gold ring. The torch weighs under 3 1/2 pounds and can burn with a visible flame for approximately 45 minutes.

Ceremonial Cauldron flickering flame
Ceremonial Cauldron  The Ceremonial Cauldron, which is traveling with the Torch Relay, is approximately five feet high and two and a half feet in diameter. A gold ring, with etched quilt of leaves, rests on a column made of brushed aluminum tubes and trimmed with gold rings featuring the names of the twenty cities who have hosted the modern Olympic Games.

Izzyflickering flame Izzy  Originally called "whatizzit", Izzy is an animated character who can change itself into a variety of sub-characters. Despite much criticism about the choice of this character representing the 1996 Olympiad, the enthusiasm towards purchasing Izzy paraphernalia has been brisk.

Centennial Olympic Cauldron flickering flame Centennial Olympic Cauldron  The Centennial Olympic Cauldron is essentially a piece of sheet steel rolled into a cone. Conceived by Minnesota-based artist Siah Armajani, the caldron uses tiles of Georgia red clay to trace the top edge of the spiral formed by the twisting of the cone.

Landmark Torchflickering flame Landmark Torch  Taz Anderson, a local developer and the creator of the orange peaches that now crown several of the city's tall buildings, has given Atlanta yet another landmark in the form of a burning torch that he calls the Centennial Tower. This Landmark Torch has sparked a controversy as ACOG accused Anderson of exploiting an Olympic symbol.

Olympic Identity Program flickering flame Olympic Identity Program  The look of the games was a combined effort from five national design firms and an architectural firm and it emerged from a graphic concept which supported the theme "Harmony, Radiance and Grace". The symbol reflects a patchwork of neighborhoods that forms the quilt of Atlanta. It is a unifying element which ties together banners, the Olympic Torch and Ceremonial Caldron, uniforms of Olympic staff and volunteers as well as buses transporting Olympic visitors.
