DAPA
About DAPA
Established in 1992 by Dr. David S. Sawicki, a professor in the City and Regional Planning Program at Georgia Tech, DAPA serves as an advocate for community capacity building through the dissemination of local socio-economic data to Atlanta residents and gorganizations that have historically been denied access to such information.
DAPA is one of the original founding sites of the Urban Institute's National Neighborhood Indicator Project to develop neighborhood-level information systems -- such as this site -- containing social indicator data that can be used to support comprehensive community building.
As part of its work with the Annie E. Casey Foundation, DAPA is a member of the organization's Data and Research Team in Atlanta.
DAPA also is into the eleventh year of its partnership with The Atlanta Project (TAP) -- a community capacity building organization founded by President Jimmy Carter in 1992 to help improve conditions in Atlanta's neediest communities. Located in the same office space as TAP in the City Hall East building on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta, DAPA provides data and evaluation support for TAP's various initiatives.
