Biography

Karen Jenkins PE, SE, AIA, LEED AP is the co-founder and managing partner of Shear Structural. She has over 30 years of experience in structural engineering and design. A licensed engineer and architect, her background in both disciplines gives her a unique perspective for solving problems and understanding client needs. Karen’s experience includes the design of corporate headquarters, mission-critical, laboratory and research facilities, educational facilities, faith-based buildings, and a wide variety of adaptive reuse projects. She holds degrees from both the University of Florida and Georgia Tech. Karen sits on the advisory board for the Georgia Tech College of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Karen has been named one of the ‘100 Influential Women in Engineering’ in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023 by Engineering Georgia Magazine.
